Grievers [homo sapiens imperator valurnensis] are descended from a human colony that departed earth on a scientific mission.

Becoming stranded on a lush and densely forested planet in the Andromeda galaxy, the colonists had no way to survive the local apex predator [venator imperator] which was a voracious, intelligent pack hunter with keratin plating, venomous claws and spines.

In an eccentric attempt to adapt, genomes were spliced with the predator resulting in the modern Griever after years of trial and error.

the perfected generations left their underived counterparts behind to create their own empire on a new planet [Axor-56b] with relative time resulting in their next meeting with their ancient kin several thousand years later.

ABOUT & origins

From the waist below, they are beastly and quadrupedal with long claws and a bladed tail.

On their shoulders, backs and thighs, protective keratin hardens into tight plates. Bristly hair sprouts around their softer skin.

They can reach speeds of 50 miles an hour and leap twice their body length. However, they have poor stamina and light bones.

They have dark blue, red or-black blood and live to an average of 200 years while maturing quickly.

They regard their differing blood types as loose guides on personality and health. The three blood types are ruby, ebon and sapphire.

ANATOMY

It is common for the race to engage in cosmetic as well as practical body and gene modification.

Griever bred with Wildren where the child-bearer is Griever result in a sub-race of hybrids, colloquially known as Grievren.  Widely regarded by Grievers as inferior in combat, they often have much to prove Or simply take up administrative work; At which they excel.

In fact, they possess greater stamina than Grievers and seem to come in a greater range of sizes. Although they do not possess the natural keratin armour of their parent race, they are often more heavily muscled and heavy fur protects their skin.

PLANET

Axor 56b (Or Valurn) is primarily a planet characterized by dry climates. it has a number of large deserts and massive dry canyons. owing to a history in which more water may have once covered it's surface.

The capital of Illium is large, covered in arcology of plant life collected from offworld and imported for the improvement of the atmosphere of axor.

Thurn, originally a mining town, has since grown to rival illium in size and has a thriving underworld. many socially ousted griever choose to start over in thurn, where the laws of illium have a looser hold.
